This part of my senior exit portfolio consist of my Independent Study, The name of the novel I read is Anne John by Jamaica Kincaid
This interesting story consist of the experience of a young girl and her experiences throughout life. One theme I have discovered within the opening of the story is the theme of death , where the narrator speaks on her curiosity with death and how in her early childhood she did not know what death was, and was not aware of the fact that anyone could die even a child. Chapter 1 page 4 "Until then , I had not known that children died.". After reading more of the story I identified another theme that many people today run into , the important but feisty relationship between a mother and daughter. After age 12 the main character realizes how much of her sweet and cuddling relationship with her mother quickly transitioned into the awkward and hectic they experience now.
